Ethereum developers will launch the Holesky test network - readd.org 2024

The second-largest cryptocurrency network is set to introduce a new testnet called Holesky. This testnet is designed for the development of staking services, infrastructure, and protocols based on Ethereum. Until recently, the Goerli testnet served as the main network for developing staking services and infrastructure. However, developers have been facing a shortage of ETH in this testnet. This is why developers are allocating 1.6 billion ETH to Holesky, which is ten times more than in the main network. Nevertheless, Sepolia will remain the primary testnet for decentralized application developers.

According to Tim Beiko, one of the leading Ethereum developers, the substantial amount of ETH in the Holesky network should meet all the needs of developers, as they often require vast amounts of coins for testing purposes. The new testnet is expected to play a significant role in the development of Ethereum’s new features, including sharding, the use of the Verkle Tree algorithm, and others.

It’s worth noting that Holesky will be twice the size of the Ethereum main network, with plans to have 1.46 million validators. It’s important to mention that the launch of the Holesky network, initially scheduled for the night of September 15th to 16th, faced setbacks due to discrepancies in certain client parameters.

In early September, Alex Gluchowski, the CEO of Matter Labs, stated that the Ethereum community needs a judicial system similar to the real world to resolve disputes.
