Genshin Impact to Cease PlayStation 4 Support in 2026

Genshin Impact to Cease PlayStation 4 Support in 2026 - readd.org 2025

Developer HoYoverse has announced that support for the PlayStation 4 version of its popular free-to-play action role-playing game, Genshin Impact, will conclude in 2026. The decision, intended to facilitate ongoing development and advancements within the game, impacts existing PS4 players but provides a timeframe for transitioning their progress to the PlayStation 5 edition.

Beginning September 10, 2025, the Genshin Impact PS4 title will be removed from digital distribution via the PlayStation Store, though users who have already downloaded the game will retain access. The in-game storefront functionality will cease on February 25, 2026. Ultimately, the complete termination of service for the PlayStation 4 version is scheduled to occur on April 4, 2026, at which point the game will no longer be playable on that platform.

This deprecation aligns with a common practice within the massively multiplayer online (MMO) genre; previous titles like Final Fantasy XIV and Destiny have similarly phased out older console versions to optimize performance and accommodate evolving technological standards. While regrettable for PS4 enthusiasts, the move is consistent with the iterative nature of “live service” games. The initial report concerning this transition was published by GameDaily on August 7, 2025.
