Samsung Aims for Budget-Conscious Consumers with New Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE

The intention behind the Z Flip 7 FE’s pricing strategy involves making it accessible for mobile virtual network operators (MVNOs) to offer attractive promotions. Boost Mobile has already begun offering the device with a $899 discount when paired with an unlimited data plan priced at $65 per month, and notably without requiring a trade-in. Major carriers are instead prioritizing promotional deals on the Galaxy Z Flip 7 itself.
The handset features a 3.4-inch cover display protected by Gorilla Glass Victus 2 and operating at a 60Hz refresh rate—identical to the Z Flip 6, though with significantly improved peak brightness reaching 2,600 nits. The hinge mechanism remains exceptional, offering wide angle flexibility comparable to its predecessor and enabling various software-optimized functions. The device’s squared design, while functional for flex modes, has been described as slightly uncomfortable during extended use.
Internally, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE deviates from Samsung’s usual reliance on Qualcomm processors, instead utilizing a Samsung Exynos 2400 processor – fabricated using the same 4nm process as the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 found in the Z Flip 6 but representing a performance step down. This, along with seemingly identical RAM configuration, results in slightly diminished performance compared to leading Android devices at its price point and occasional noticeable lag during daily operation.
