Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 Endurance Tested: YouTuber Reaches 200,000 Folds

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 Endurance Tested: YouTuber Reaches 200,000 Folds - readd.org 2025

A Korean YouTube creator has conducted a rigorous durability test of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 to assess its claimed fold endurance, subjecting the device to an impressive 200,000 manual folds. The experiment was undertaken following Samsung’s assertion that the latest iteration of their foldable phone can withstand up to 500,000 folding cycles.

Tech It, a technology-focused YouTube channel, documented the entire process in a live stream and implemented periodic inspections throughout the trial. While the Galaxy Z Fold 7 largely performed well, several anomalies emerged during the extended folding procedure. A system reboot error was initially observed between the 6,000th and 10,000th fold. Around the 46,000-fold mark, a noticeable creaking sound began emanating from the device’s hinge.

Further testing revealed a brief leakage of an unidentified fluid from the hinge at approximately 75,000 folds. A faint crackling noise accompanied subsequent folds, and the screen crease became increasingly visible after around 105,000 cycles. Notably, both the OLED panel and the hinge itself continued to function without significant interruption throughout most of the test.

The most significant issue arose near the 175,000-fold mark when the phone’s primary speaker ceased functioning. Despite these challenges, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 completed the 200,000-fold trial and remained structurally intact.
