Tesla Abandons Supercomputer Project Amidst Talent Exodus and Sales Decline

Electric vehicle manufacturer Tesla is discontinuing its efforts to develop an internal supercomputing platform for processing computer vision data related to its advanced driver assistance system. The initiative, known internally as Dojo, has faced significant setbacks stemming from a mass departure of key personnel and ongoing concerns regarding sales performance. Bloomberg News first reported the shift in strategy.
The project’s lead is among those leaving Tesla, following an exodus of approximately 20 employees who have accepted positions at a rival data center company. This competitor has reportedly been actively recruiting former Tesla executives, further depleting the Dojo team’s expertise. Remaining members are expected to be transferred to other internal data center projects within the organization. The move comes as the automaker grapples with declining sales figures globally and amid scrutiny of the company’s broader strategic direction under the leadership of its CEO.
